In June 2024 Arriva changed ownership from Deutsche Bahn to I Squared Capital. Sometimes when a takeover happens a new brand identity is revealed. In this case no new look was introduced for Arriva. This gave us the idea of making a concept brand identity for the Arriva UK brand. We mainly looked at the bus side of Arriva UK's operations although we did briefly look at the rail operations.

This is what we came up with...
One of the most important things about a company look is their logo. We decided to create a modern looking a sleek logo to represent Arriva's modern approach to transport. The logo represents an "A" icon like their current logo along with the company name next to the icon.
As this is one of our most thought through concepts we decided to add some meaning behind the logo and the colours used. The logo is shaped like an A to reflect upon the company name. The three colours used in the logo represent three things that Arriva stand for: Community, Innovation and Mobility. We call them the "Arriva 3".
Arriva UK's operations aren't fully buses. They also own several rail companies and traincare facilities. It would be rude to miss them out so we briefly included them in this concept. Using their current colour schemes, these are the logos that we created for them.

Now let's pay attention to the buses...
The livery is the thing that people will see the most so it's important to make it look eye-catching, sleek and professional. We decided to incorporate the logo into the livery. We also paid attention to Arriva's recent movements when it comes to the buses. We found that they have been buying dealer stock buses to modernise their fleet and they tend to come in a base white colour which gave us the idea of making the base of the livery white.
This livery would be the standard livery for Arriva Buses, just like the "Cotswold Stone", "Interurban" and "Journey Mark" liveries. The livery features the "Arriva 3" colour scheme with white dashes and a white base coat and is partially based on the logo.
Sapphire is the brand name for the premium bus services that Arriva offer. This livery is based on the "Standard Slanted Lines" livery but with a slight twist. Instead of the "mobility teal" and base white at the front of the bus it has been replaced with a royal blue, similar to what is used on the "Journey Mark Sapphire" livery.
Arriva don't just have service buses, they also have a fleet of training buses used to help people obtain their PCV license. We amended the "Slanted Lines Sapphire" livery to make the training bus livery. Instead of the royal blue at the front of the bus we have swapped it out for a magenta colour to reflect on the current colour used the current training bus fleet.
To show what it would look like on an actual bus we used a mix of photo editing and a game called OMSI2.
The photos on the left shows an example of our photo editing technique.
The buses photographed are a VDL SB200 Wright Pulsar 2 and an Alexander Dennis enviro200 MMC which are both common single decker buses in the Arriva Bus & Coach UK fleet.
The photos below are from OMSI 2. The models were made by Blueprint Productions and Masterswitch Studios.
