It came to our attention that Brighton & Hove had ordered a new fleet of buses to replace their existing B9TL Gemini 2s for the Regency route which is a key route that links East Sussex to The Weald.
To build up our portfolio we decided to make a concept of what we would do if we had to chance to create the new B&H Regency look.
Creation of the concept...
Step 1: Inspiration
Before we make any concept we find some inspiration to base our design on. We tend to surf the web for existing and past liveries from the operator and get some ideas from that. For this particular livery we looked at past Regency liveries and branding.
Step 2: Putting it together
Once we have some inspiration we can start putting things together. We start by creating the base livery. In this case we drew up some curvy lines and coloured in some parts using colours similar to what B&H used on their Regency B9TLs. To live up to the name we added a few gold accents to give it that premium and modest feel that the brand gives off.
Step 3: Branding
When we have created the base livery we begin to add some branding. Firstly, we redesigned the Regency logo. Secondly, we added a bit of text to the livery to promote the route. Lastly, we added some branding that was previously used on the old Regency B9TLs to promote locations along the route.
Step 4: Finalising
After completing the previous steps we see if there's anything else that can be added or amended. Once we're happy with the design we move onto the last two steps...
Once we have finalised the livery we like to see how it would look on an actual bus. Using a game like OMSI2 is a great way to showcase a livery on a bus. For this concept we used the Studio Polygon enviro400 MMC. To the left is an image carousel of screenshots that we took to demonstrate the livery on a bus.
